Layout

File format: The text corpus is accepted by the journal only in *.docx or *.rtf file format. Graphics and tables are delivered separately in the form of editable files, e.g. in *.xlsx format. In the text corpus, corresponding notes regarding such insertions are made in square brackets.

No multiple submissions: Only manuscripts that are not simultaneously submitted elsewhere or have already been published may be submitted to sozialpolitik.ch.

Manuscript length: The information on the manuscript length can be found in the section Submission. The number of characters includes abstract (max. 150 words), keywords, text, footnotes, bibliography and possible appendices.

Anonymization: In order to guarantee an anonymous review, the name of the author(s) as well as personal comments of any kind (references to one's own person in the case of supporting documents, acknowledgements, etc.) must be deleted from the text corpus. In case of publication, deleted passages can be re-inserted.

Language and spelling: Manuscripts for sozialpolitik.ch must be submitted in German, English or French and must be grammatically and orthographically correct.

Metadata: A title, an abstract and up to five keywords are to be submitted in the respective publication language and in English.

In general, regarding text design the submitted document should be kept simple. The editorial team is responsible for formatting and adapting it to the final layout. The following rules should be observed:

Manuscript structure:

  1. First page:
    1. Title (without authors)
    2. Heading „Abstract“
    3. Abstract in publication language (max. 800 characters incl. spaces)
    4. Five keywords related to the content of your paper (publication language)
  2. Body of text
  3. Last page:
    1. Acknowledgements
    2. Declaration of conflicts of interest
    3. Funding
  4. References

Outline and Headings: All sections and subsections must have meaningful headings, without numbering. A maximum of three levels of outline will be used.

Text formatting: Please use the same formatting throughout the text, e.g. Times New Roman, font size 12, single line spacing. Final formatting will be done by the editorial staff.

Paragraphs: Paragraphs in the text are to be written consecutively, i.e., without a blank line.

Highlighting: Please use emphasis sparingly. Highlighting should be done exclusively in italics.

Foreign-language words: The rules of the Oxford Dicitonary apply to foreign-language words, especially in the case of multi-word compounds and in the case of compounds with German words.

Footnotes: Footnotes are used to present supplementary information. Endnotes are not used. Footnote characters of footnotes that refer to a whole sentence or part of a sentence are placed without spaces after the period or comma.
